MUSICAL THEATRE WORKS is a unique Theatre Academy and Performance Company for children and teens in grades K-12.  Our exciting programs provide an opportunity for students to learn about and experience all aspects of Musical Theatre by working with professional Directors, Designers and Instructors.  The MTW Academy begins with classes for young students to build their skills and confidence as they work on becoming experienced, well-trained performers. For our youngest students, our Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance Class, for Grades K-1, offers instruction in theatre games and Improvisation as well as songs and dances from age-appropriate Broadway Musicals. The Broadway Bound Performance Class offers students, in grades 2-5, instruction in songs, scenes and dances from a selected Broadway Musical. More experienced students, in grades 3-10, participate in the Main Stage Performance Company which produces two full-scale Broadway Musicals each year. This group receives continued instruction in Acting, Voice, and Choreography as they work towards their full-scale performances at the end of each season. Our Summer Theatre Camps provide a unique immersion program where students experience all aspects of Musical Theatre production and performance in an intensive 3-week session. We also offer a group Master Class in Voice for Musical Theatre.

MTW's theatre programs and classes are open to all levels of students.  Our diverse population is made up of beginning students with little or no experience in the Performing Arts, as well as students who have had previous stage experience.  Our students come from 45 public, private and parochial schools throughout the Bay Area (San Francisco, Marin County and the Peninsula).  Admission to MTW is based primarily on a student's sincere desire to participate in this Performing Arts Academy.  MTW also has a strong scholarship/financial assistance program which helps assure that our Company will attract students from all socio and economic levels.  School year classes, rehearsals and performances are held at the Randall Museum Theatre, 199 Museum Way, San Francisco, 94114. Summer Theatre Camps are held at the First Unitarian Church, 1187 Franklin Street (at Geary), San Francisco, 94109.
