Mission Statement
MUSICAL THEATRE WORKS is a Theatre Academy and Performance Company for students in grades K-9. The goal of MTW is to offer young people an opportunity to learn about and experience all aspects of Musical Theatre, participate in Academy training classes, produce two full-scale Broadway musicals each year and work with professional Directors and Designers. Admission to MTW is based primarily on the student's sincere desire to participate in this Performance Company, as well as their willingness to accept the level of commitment necessary to succeed in MTW. MUSICAL THEATRE WORKS is committeed to providing financial assistance to those who qualify.
CAROLYN MILLER A.K.A. 'Ms. Music'

With 35 years experience teaching Music History, Theatre and Choir in several private schools in San Francisco, Carolyn Miller (or 'Ms. Music' as her students call her) has brought together everything she enjoys doing to create MUSICAL THEATRE WORKS. With MTW now in its 14th year, her dream of creating a productive and exciting Company for young people has, indeed, been realized. With students coming from 45 different schools, Carolyn, who is also a published composer and credentialed Music teacher with degrees in Vocal Music and Music Education, has been able to help young people experience full-scale, professional-level Musical Theatre.
CHRISTINA LAZO

Christina holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Marymount Manhattan College in New York. She has performed in, choreographed and directed both local and regional theatre. Christina currently specializes in Dance and Theatre Education, and has worked with students from preschool through professional level. In addition to her work with MUSICAL THEATRE WORKS, she has worked locally with Peninsula Youth Theatre, ACLO Kids, Palo Alto Players, and Stage 1 Theatre.
JENNIFER WILKINSON
Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance Class Instructor / Asst. Choreographer Main Stage Company
Jennifer has performed with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and National and European tours of 42nd Street, Crazy for You, and The WIll Rogers Follies. She has also performed and choreographed at regional theatres throughout the country including the Prince Theatre in Philadelphia. Recently she moved to San Francisco from NYC and continues to teach, perform and choreograph at many local theatres including TheatreWorks, AMTSJ, CMTSJ, and MTW. She also runs her own after-school program "Little Kicks Theatre", that specializes in theatre and dance classes. She holds a Music Degree from Temple University in Pennsylvania, and trained with the Pennsylvania Ballet.
MARIANNA ELISE FERRIS
Vocal Coach / Voice Class Instructor
Marianna has been performing for over 24 years, studying singing for 18, and teaching full time for five. She loves music of all kinds and has sung and coached in such disparate styles as Musical Theatre, Opera, Rock, Jazz, Cabaret and Folk Rock. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with honors from Carnegie Mellon University, and believes that a solid singing technique should be easy and comfortable for any singer.
